The show was a build up to the main event to be held on April 30, 2018 in Johannesburg, South Africa featuring American rapper, Chance the Rapper as the headline act.

The Friday concert at Stanbic Piazza, meant to give the locals an experience of the Castle Lite extra cold stage, was headlined by South Africa’s Best Collaboration award winner at the South African Hip Hop Awards last December, Frank Casino and Dj Speedsta who scooped DJ of the year at the same awards.

The two did not disappoint as they gave good performances. Frank Casino got the crowd going when he performed hits such as Sawce and Whole thing.

The two South Africans performed alongside local acts including Bangu, Dj Root, Robbie Rob and Bad Boy Brando, Dramaboi, Yan Bannerman, Ban-T and Veezo View during the first ever Castle Lite Unlocks show.

Dramaboi continued to show that he is still popular with his hit songs such as Sala le nna, Bosigo Kaofela and Setakile. As soon as he got up on stage, revellers who had for some time seemed occupied with just indulging on their drinks, took notice and moved closer to the stage.

Many danced while others sang along. It was Dramaboi who lit up the show with his energetic performances and lyricism, which seemed popular amongst the youthful revellers who had graced the concert.

Born Thuto Ramphaleng, the Motswako starlet proved that unlike many who have come and gone, he is far from reaching his sell by date. He has made township music his game and he has mastered it and remains in the number one spot in his fans’ hearts.

Other artists in the lineup also did not disappoint.

Castle Lite is known for bringing international artists onto African shores, giving consumers the most innovative music experience with both local and international acts performing on one Extra Cold Stage.

Over the years, international artists like Kanye West, Drake, J Cole and Travis Scott have graced the South African stage and since then, it has transcended into other African countries like Mozambique, Nigeria and Tanzania.
