The four-member ensemble has been nominated in the Music Group of Excellence category with 13 groups from different countries, one notable group being the Soweto Gospel Choir.

The AGMMA is the premier gospel event that recognises the immense gospel talent that exists within the African gospel music and Christian media fraternity and beyond, and honours and rewards them accordingly at its annual awards event. It is a brainchild of 1615 Media, a UK based Christian Media and Events Company.

“It feels so great; we are just so overwhelmed with joy because we know we are doing a great job. This means a lot because it shows that we really have confidence, skills, commitment, flexibility, dedication and skills towards what we are doing as gospel artists,” said Aregopoleng Gospel Boyz manager, Yonder Marumoagae.

She urged Batswana to vote for Aregopoleng Gospel Boyz so that it wins the award. Voting is done online on the following link: www.africangospelmusicawards.

Apart from winning BOMU awards this is the first time Aregopoleng Gospel Boyz gets to be nominated on such an international platform.

She noted that this nomination will give the group an international exposure that will also add impetus on their brand. “This will immensely contribute to the development of performing arts in Botswana as the knowledge acquired will be shared with other artists locally.”

Marumoagae stated that the group is currently facing financial issues that might affect their trip to London to attend the awards ceremony but they are making plans to put together money so they travel to London.

“Unfortunately we received the invitation late due to some technical issues beyond our control but had it arrived on time we would have organised a gospel tour around Botswana. We are hustlers; the last time when we received the Sweden invite, we managed to raise money for our Visas”.

Aregopoleng Gospel Boyz has also made its name overseas such as in the Stockholm Gospel Choir Festival where they have had stage performances with the likes of Gerald T Smith, Daniel Dee Jones from USA and St Ignatius choir from Zambia.

They are currently working on releasing their second album, which they have finished recording.
