Elections for the SEC were held yesterday and now they have a mandate to serve for another two and half years.

Both Segokgo and Mabeo were not challenged for their positions. “I thank my councillors for having trust in my leadership and my main focus is to improve internal roads in Tlokweng in these two years.

One of my concerns in the area is the storm water drainage, which needs an improvement. I want to assure the residents that the council working on it,” Segokgo said in an interview yesterday.

He continued: “We are doing minimal storm water drainage at a cost of P4 million to try to improve the current situation”.

He said their waste management has not been good and it also needs an improvement.

The chairman said they have paved six internal roads in Tlokweng, Ramotswa and Otse.

Segokgo said they are looking at the creation of employment through public private partnerships, which includes building malls, students’ accommodation and hotels.

“The council will manage this through partnering with private companies for it to be able to achieve its dreams.

We have land in Ramotswa and Tlokweng to build malls and a hotel. The other issue is to ensure that the Tlokweng development plan is implemented so that we avail plots to residents of Tlokweng,” he said.

Segokgo said they are currently reviewing the Tlokweng development plan which entails residential plan, zoning land for allocation, planning of a bye pass road in Tlokweng and giving people the liberty of change of land use.
