A source said the goalkeeper’s crime is failing to deal with his weight.

The source said Robert’s weight was blamed for the ‘easy’ goals that he conceded in the Top 8 final against Township Rollers. Orapa lost 4-2.

Following the dismal loss Robert was also accused of indiscipline. The club spokesperson Kabo William said the goalkeeper sent a spiteful message (sms) to the club assistant chairman.

Robert and other players also got the stick for remaining in Francistown after the final despite orders to return to Orapa to resume preparations for the next fixture.

Robert’s salary was slashed by around P1,600 for missing training.

He did not receive his bonus for the Mascom Top 8 silver medal despite other players been credited their bonuses. The bonus is said to be in the regions of P9,000.

“Yes it is true that I have received a pay cut and I haven’t received the (Top 8) bonus but I can’t say much because I am yet to meet with management,” the goalkeeper said.

Robert trained with team until end of March before the club’s league meeting with Rollers. He was suspended from training with others pending a hearing.

The hearing was scheduled for Wednesday 11 but was postponed indefinitely as club chairman was un available.

William confirmed the suspension. “It’s an issue of misconduct. He is suspended until the end of April. He is due to appear for a hearing,” he said.

Robert joined Orapa United from TAFIC in 2013. In his five years spell with the Ostriches he has won a Mascom top 8 gold and two silver medals.
