With Kast stating that the event had over 20,000 were people in attendance, Tlatsa Lebala project manger Massie Hule has come out to give statistics.

“Looking at our ticket sales we were almost sold out, I think we were 500 tickets away from being sold out. Despite announcing that people won’t be paying at the gates, most of them paid by the gate.

All in all we had printed out 20 500 tags and we are left with a few now,” said Hule.

Yesterday morning Hule noted that there has not been any formal book recording for both tickets and money accumulated, as they had to leave the National Stadium around 3 pm on Sunday to rest.

Critics have gone to ask if Kast will be pocketing all the profits that were made during the event since 90% of the artists pledged to perform for free.

Some have even gone to the extent of calculating the amount of money that might have been generated stating that it is over P2 million or close to that amount.

“I do not know why people are asking such questions. A lot of shows have been hosted before and no one has ever asked how much money has been generated. Is it because it’s an event put together by Kast?” he said.

Speaking of the artists that pledged to perform for free he noted that they would make some arrangements for them.

There is also a rumour that the Tlatsa Lebala team pocketed some of the gate takings leading to a loss. However Hule noted that he is not aware of such an issue and nothing of that sort happened.

“The event was packed up and it made a statement to both the government and the private sector that local music has an impact and it is beneficial to the economy. We hope it will change their mindset” he highlighted.

Another issue that was of concern to local artists was the fact that Vee Mampeezy brought Khuli Chana on stage at an event that was meant to only promote local music and its artists. Hule said they however did not see this as any harm.
