Dejection as Amos finishes last

Up against a not so intimidating field, Amos began brightly as he paced ahead as early the first 400m.
He however, appeared rattled when Kenyan, Wycliffe Kinyamal started his sprint early just before the last bend.
Amos reacted and stuck to the Kenya, in a bid to keep pace, which appeared to go against his game plan.
His move backfired spectacularly as he could not sustain the pace and the six other runners flew past, leaving Amos eighth in a disappointing time of 1.48.45.
Even at the start of the race, Amos' confidence appeared flat, his stance devoid of the usual pre-race theatrics.
Instead, he resorted to a brief prayer. Amos even stumbled a bit when the starter kicked off the race. Normally, Amos prefers to maintain a certain pace, and follow the leading pack. This time around he produced a strange tactic, which appeared to affect him.
Attention now shifts to the men and women's relay teams, as Botswana has failed to achieve the set target of eight medals. However, there is ample of bright spots as the country won two gold medals for the first time in the history of Commonwealth Games participation.
Other codes, bowling, boxing, swimming and weightlifting had an underwhelming tournament, failing to match the ever excelling athletics.
