In its meeting held on April 20, attended by 10 members, it resolved that letters be written and sent to the perpetrators, as well as a recommendation forwarded to central committee notifying them of the expulsion.

In their minutes, the committee would also provide the BDP central committee with evidence that is at hand for action to be taken.

“Suggestion was made that action should be taken against Board members and committee members who tarnish the party’s name and sabotage the committee. Specifically, two political board members Kabelo Mhuriro and Ogaufi Nthobelang should be expelled as they do not fulfil the mandate of NYEC nor respect their office and positions,” NYEC minutes reads. Mhuriro and Nthobelang are members of political office sub-committee.

“I am aware of the plan and minutes are there. This includes a move to have me expelled from the BDP. The matter is before my political officer and NYEC secretary general. Both condemn the move as it was motivated by a fraction of small boys still thrilled by landing on positions of leadership,” Mhuriro said yesterday in an interview.

However NYEC chairperson Simon Mavange said; “It is true we held a meeting on April 20. I cannot shed any light in these issues because they are internal. May be I will be able to comment in a few weeks”.

The committee also resolved that its treasurer Bruce Ngakile should have deposited P27,000 back into their account by April 27 because the withdrawal was not authorised nor action defined yet for the use of the money.

On this issue, Mavange said he would call an urgent meeting so that he could hear both sides of the story.  “I have not been in the country when this issue started, but I don’t think it was proper for members to fight or leak this information to the media. I cannot comment much on it,” he said.

On other issues, NYEC suggested 60 names of people, especially youth, who will be tasked with defending the party time to time on radios and social media.

The NYEC will also hold tournaments in all 57 constituencies as a strategy for the party to be visible and to help on youth recruitment.

It further delegated additional member, Kaisara Sejoe to find answers about land that was allocated to it, so that it could start generating its own money.
