GU set to sail through

The Reds hold a comfortable 3-0 lead from the first leg.  GU have had a good run in the competition, a sharp contrast to their domestic form in which they have all but failed to defend the league title and crashed out of the Coca-Cola Cup.

The Gaborone side prevailed over their Mauritian opponents through goals from Vincent Phiri, Mandla Mgadla and Ronald Chikomo. Complacency might prove to be Mayogoleele's biggest undoing with the assumption that the game is already in the bag. Coach David Bright told a media briefing at Lekidi Centre in Gaborone yesterday that they will guard against complacency.

He said his charges have to score two or three goals while denying the visitors the opportunity to score in order to make the game safe. Bright will have to reshuffle his cards as his key defenders, Tumisang 'Butcher' Sekanonyana and pint-sized right back, Gabriel Bokhutlo are out due to suspension.

Sekanonyana received a red card in the first leg while Bokhutlo has two yellow cards in the competition and therefore is suspended for the return leg.

Bright said Gobonyeone 'Shoes' Selefa will shift to Sekanonyana's position, while Kenny Ledikwe takes the right back position. Defensive midfielder, Mamikina Mayunga will move to central defence.

Captain Branco Molokwane appealed for support from Batswana irrespective of club affiliation because GU is representing the country. Starlight arrived yesterday evening. They are expected to train at the match venue today.

Kick-off is at 3:30pm and gates will open at 11:30 am. Tickets for the rest of the ground cost P30. Those sitting in the two covered grand stands will pay P50. Tickets are already on sale at GU offices and selected outlets. A win for GU will see them face either Dynamos of Zimbabwe or FC Lupopo from DRC in the second round.
