The deceased is reportedly the son of a senior police officer in Francistown, whose name is known to this publication. Kutlwano police station commander, Superintendent Neo Serumola said the deceased was with his female friend when the accident occurred.

Serumola said the teenage girl he believes to be aged about 18, was at press time still admitted at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital.

“The girl sustained a broken arm and a leg. Our investigations have just commenced and at this stage we are yet to establish what may have caused the accident. We suspect that the deceased who was the one driving failed to negotiate a curve,” said Serumola.

The accident, Serumola said, happened near Selepa Junior Secondary School. He added that after the accident, they rushed the victims to the hospital where the driver unfortunately passed on.

According to information from a close source, the deceased was allegedly suffering from epilepsy, which might have contributed to the cause of the accident. When asked about this, Serumola said they were not aware about the deceased’s condition.

Serumola stated that both the deceased and his friend were using a Mercedes Benz vehicle, which belongs to the parents of the deceased. He advised those driving to take necessary precautions at all times.

“They should be attentive and obey the speed limits when driving,” he said.

The police boss said he was not in a position to reveal the names of the deceased and his friend before their next of kin are informed.

Meanwhile, Tatitown police station commander Superintendent Cyprian Magalela confirmed that they are investigating a case in which a 23-year-old man of Borolong village committed suicide.

He said the incident happened on Sunday. The young man took his life using a gun.
