This Madigele said, at Wednesday’s press conference to launch his lobby group ahead of the youth elections to be held in Mmadinare later this month.

“We want to restore the BCPYL to where it’s supposed to be. We also want to ensure that the youth league becomes visible and takes the current administration to task.

“Looking at things now you will all agree with me that the youth league is not where it is supposed to be,” Madigele whose team has adopted the tagline ‘team restorations’ as their campaign slogan, said.

He added that should his team be voted into office it would ensure that there is synergy from all structures in the party starting from the executive down to the ward and cell levels.

“We also want to restore the spirit of volunteerism in our youth and ensure that they develop a sense of ownership of the youth league,” he said.

Although he used a near-diplomatic tone in his speech it was clear that in Madigele’s view the BCPYL has failed to carryout its mandate under the current youth president, Tebogo Molefe.

Madigele refused to label Molefe a failure during a question and answer session with journalists.

“She has her own way of doing things and I respect that. For now, I think it’s vital for me to engage on what my lobby group intends to do should we be voted into office. Our intention is to run a very clean campaign,” he said.

Molefe was co-opted into the BCPYL presidency last July following the resignation of Tumiso Chillyboy Rakgare. Her critics say she has done little to maintain the vibrancy of the party youth league.

Although some BCP youth are said to be interested in contesting the youth league elections, Madigele and members of his lobby group are the first to make their candidacy official.

In Madigele’s lobby group, Omphile Kebeileng who has served no less than four youth league presidents will challenge for the position of vice president. Itumeleng Gabatshabe will contest the position of chairperson while Kagisano Tamocha will challenge for the position of secretary general.

Lucky Mana as well as Kenneth Nelson will contest the position of deputy secretary general and publicity secretary respectively. Grace Balule will go for the position of women’s affairs while Kelebogile Kebaitse will contest for the position of treasurer.

Goitseone Simon will contest for the position of secretary for arts and culture. Victor Gabatshwane has availed himself for the position of national organising secretary.
