Just less than a month after Khama left office, the BCP secretary general Kentse Rammidi, is rumoured to be on his way back to the ruling party.

Mmegi has learnt that lately Rammidi has been frustrated by perceived lack of progress within Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC).

It started when it became clear that he would not contest Kanye North. Sources say that while in the 2014 general elections Rammidi came third after the UDC represented by BNF’s Kwenantle Gaseitsiwe, he still insisted he was the best candidate, but the talks agreement excluded him.

“His efforts to push for open contests did not succeed. Besides, he was extremely broke after BDP blocked all possible livelihood avenues,” a source close to Rammidi disclosed.  “He has been consulting some of the members on the area about his move. The BDP started recruiting him last year and he has now made up his mind about the move,” the source said.

Rammidi has been one of the BCP members who were lobbying openly for the party to join UDC. His conviction was that the opposition could win 2019 general elections if they were united.  Efforts to reach Rammidi were unsuccessful, as he was not answering mobile phone.  However, BCP president Dumelang Saleshando said he spoke to Rammidi yesterday morning and his SG denied that he was re-joining the BDP.
