Masisi, who is also the country’s Vice President, had just spoken about the BDP Tlokweng by-election candidate, Elijah Katse and was on his way to his seat when some party members broke into song praising him (Masisi) as the rightful party chairperson.

He went back to the podium, and stated: “I nearly forgot. I was sent by the President to tell you that all party activities will be postponed until after the election. Even campaigns for Tonota should stop as I have heard some of you singing. We are going all out for this constituency, we should win it”.

Masisi pleaded with the Tlokweng democrats to put behind what happened in 2014 and vote for Katse, as they know of his capabilities. He also said with Katse in Parliament, he would be able to carry out Government programmes. He also said as a qualified accountant, Katse’s skills would be needed in Parliament.

Masisi also took a swipe at opposition parties saying they like fighting. “We believe in solving our differences through talking. We can’t place power in the hands of people who are always fighting.

They are our children, we are sill expecting them to return to their party fit as they left,” he said. Katse promised Batlokwa to serve them to his best abilities as he has served them in various capacities. “I have in the past led preparations for coronation of our Kgosi and his wedding.

I am also the leader of Batlokwa Development Trust. All these I delivered exceptionally well and that is what I will continue doing,” he said. Katse will face off with UDC’s Kenneth Segokgo and late entrant independent candidate Shirley Segokgo on May 13 to replace the Tlokweng legislator, Same Bathobakae who died late last year.
