Alleged Molester Bought Sex From Minor With Sweets, Chips

The State alleges that Azariah Murinda defiled a 13-year-old primary school girl last year at Monarch. He was appearing in Court for setting of new trial dates in his matter.

Although the case is yet to go for trial, Murinda, 38, shocked the Court when asked by Principal Magistrate Dumisane Basupi who was just curious to know what may have happened.

In response, Murinda said he thought that the complainant was a mature woman because she had big breasts and buttocks, hence he proposed love to her and she agreed.

When Basupi asked Murinda to comment on the allegations that he bought the minor with sweets and chips in her statement, Murinda answered in the contrary.

He even denied ever having sex with the complainant contrary to what the complainant said in her police statement.

The accused however did not deny proposing love to the complainant who is 25-years his junior. He reiterated that he proposed love to her because she looked like a women.

When Basupi asked Murinda if he should order the police to bring the minor to Court to see if she looks like a woman just like the accused is asserting, he answered in the affirmative.

The case has been adjourned to May 5 for setting of new trial dates because Basupi is leaving the magistracy for another job within the Administration of Justice.

Inspector Mengistu Chigala represented the state while the accused is representing himself in the matter.
