Through a television production called The Business Kraal, she promotes dialogue between the public and corporations.

She said the programme is a private entity that focuses on business, entrepreneurship and trade through the media.

“The media is a powerful vehicle that sets the tone. It has the power to influence people,” Tlhaselo said.

She further explained that The Business Kraal features corporate leaders and that it tackles business, corporate and leadership issues across industries and sectors, which directly and indirectly affects the Botswana business environment.

The show also hosts ambassadors, diplomats and consulates, who are best placed to tell about the business environment in their countries.

According to her, the programme started in 2013 as a radio show hosting leaders and captains of the industry about issues pertaining to the business environment, especially on policy.

“I didn’t want it to be an ordinary show. I realised that most people who go into business don’t know about the policies and challenges that are involved,” she said.

So far, Tlhaselo said, the programme has since built a good reputation, attracting more ambassadors to come on board.

“I decided to register it officially as an organisation. It was launched in 2015 and we managed to get partnerships with some embassies,” she said.

Under its mandate, The Business Kraal operates other media models such as radio, conferencing and magazine. Tlhaselo said they have also partnered with the Botswana Investment Trade Centre (BITC), which she said found her concept credible and relevant.

“We collaborated and signed an agreement, leading to them sponsoring our programme which aired last year on Botswana Television on Mondays from 8:00pm to 8:30pm,” she said.

She noted that the current broadcast partner for the show is Gabz FM, which airs the programme from 1:30pm to 2pm, being sponsored by New Era College.

Tlhaselo said they are hoping to be back on television this year for the second season of the show. She also stated that they have been working on a magazine for the past year hoping to publish sometime this year.

She said The Business Kraal has a huge following of youth, foreign investors in countries such as Kenya, Nigeria, Zambia, and South Africa.

“The feedback is overwhelming through our Facebook page, and we have built good relationship with embassies,” Tlhaselo said.
