The legendary South African guitarist began slowly with the mellow guitar ballads including popular pieces like Lolita and Le Lle Kae. Performing these sweet jazz jams, Selota slowly got into an ethereal mode that makes the audience to “see the music” through his passion recital.

When he switched to the feisty Thrrr… Pha and the nostalgic Dali Wa Tsamaya, now sweat drenched, his slim fit white shirt soaked up and threatening to take it off, the crowd was already in a trance too. Although his music does not demand full throttle energies on stage, Selota gave the BotswanaCraft an energetic show that left many first timers to watch him live content and with new found respect for the guitarist.

Selota, who is also widely credited for unearthing Judith Sephuma’s talent, introduced his backing vocalist and protégé Surprise Malanga-Mathabela saying, “she is the next big thing.”

The show was opened by the ever dapper Afro pop singer Lizibo on his debut performance at the BotswanaCraft.

The little man with an amazing voice gave a hearty two-hour performance bellowing his love hits with his signature Motown microphone that matched his stylish appearance.

Lizibo shook up the crowd with his ‘Zibo dance’ and the crowd sung along to his lovely Kalanga hits including Wakanaka and Malebeswa.

Lizibo called onto the stage the legendary guitarist John Selolwane, affectionately called “Uncle John” and the sassy TV personality Sadi Dikgaka for his Mosadi version.

Sadi also showed the crowd that she is not just a pretty face with a loud TV mouth, but she can sing nicely too.

Lizibo impressed Selota so much that he even called him up on stage during his set and they improvised a song together.
