Galaxy Go Top, Dent Nico�s Survival Chances

Nico were 12th going into the game on the back of two successive wins, but they crumbled under the weight of expectation as Galaxy denied them a much-needed victory.
It was a battle of two worlds apart, a title contender and a team fighting relegation. Nico loss saw them slide to 13th while Galaxy are now top with 53 points.
Baby Jombies dropped the ball and put up a ramshackle show full of defensive lapses. Nico found the back of the net in the first minute of the game. Vincent Marumo’s goal raised high expectations to garner another win in consecutive outings. Their hopes were immediately thwarted by the hard tackling man, Moreetsi Mosimanyana who levelled matters for Galaxy. It was an easy ball that an alert defence would have cleared with ease. Nico also lacked creativity in the middle, but it was in defence where the game was lost.
Thero Setsile gave Galaxy the lead before Moreetsi Mosimanyana made a defensive blunder, beating his own goalkeeper to bring Nico back into the game. Peter Olangi put Galaxy back in the lead before the game went into recess. Nico came back from halftime a better team making impressive runs, but the defensive issues recurred towards the end of the game. Their attacking combination did not gel.
Galaxy on the other hand was a better team. They made more runs and intercepted more, playing more direct football than their opponents. Thero Setsile registered a brace, scoring Galaxy’s fourth and last goal of the game. Township Rollers coach, Teenage Mpote and Rollers fans attended the game wearing their team regalia as a tribute to the late Gofaone Tiro who collapsed and died during training on Friday.
For Mpote, it could also have been a calculated visit to give the game a closer eye since Galaxy are their direct rival for the title.
