Extension II Magistrate Ntombizodwa Ncube sentenced Ndlovu, a Zimbabwean, for the offence of re-entry into Botswana after he was declared a prohibited immigrant in 2015.

Faced with a string of rape and armed robbery cases committed since 2015 Ndlovu was recently rearrested after escaping from prison two years ago.

A week ago, Ndlovu and his co-accused, Progressive Ndlovu were arrested by police in the outskirts of Tlokweng village while trying to flee to South Africa after allegedly robbing and raping two sisters in front of their mother at Masetlheng ward.

Back in 2015 Ndlovu was arrested for similar offences of rape, armed robbery and unlawfully entering Botswana through ungazetted points of entry.

He was remanded in custody when he escaped from prison in 2016 before he was sentenced for the offence.

Since then, the police have been searching for the serial rapist until his luck run out when they nabbed him and his accomplice trying to flee to South Africa while in possession of the stolen goods.

Ndlovu’s latest arrest has now led to the reopening of his cases that were pending and a spree of a different kind is definitely in the offing.

On April 26, 2018 he will appear before Extension II Magistrates’ Court for the armed robbery he allegedly committed in 2015 and then hop into the prison van to appear for the recent Tlokweng rape and robbery offences together with his co-accused. A week ago, a third suspect by the name Lloyd managed to escape arrest when the duo got caught. Police suspect he may have crossed to South Africa.  The police alleged that the Zimbabwean trio did not have a place of stay in Botswana and resided in Hillbrow, South Africa.

The police alleged that after crossing into Botswana, the trio would spend afternoons walking around the neighbourhood of Tlokweng, surveilling their targets only to strike at.

In a recent attack, allegedly after raping the two sisters, the trio took their mother’s ATM card and withdrew money amounting to P1,900 and goods valued at P22,600.

The trio allegedly attacked another family, still in Masetlheng ward in February at around 10pm and robbed them of money amounting to P12,000. They also raped two women in the process.

The police reported that they allegedly invaded the victims’ house whilst the family was still watching television, tied up the husband and made him watch as they raped his wife and his cousin.

The trio’s reign of terror started mid-last year with their modus operandi being to rape women and steal valuables like cell phones, laptops, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards to withdraw cash.

Also, still in Tlokweng back in 2016, Ndlovu allegedly raped two sisters at knifepoint.
