Lesetedi fears most drug lords are Batswana

The Botswana Police Service (BPS) director of crime intelligence, Nunu Lesetedi told Mmegi recently that despite their ongoing raids, which some having been made public through different media platforms as a way of sending a clear message to potential dealers, more Batswana are being arrested on a daily basis in possession of drugs.

Lesetedi said it appears that most people sell drugs for a living hence could not desist from smuggling them into the country despite their raids.

In a media release, the BPS public relations officer, Dipheko Motube revealed that recently Ramotswa Police arrested three Batswana men aged 25, 36 and 45, for dealing in drugs.

He said the suspects who reside in New Naledi and Block 5 in Gaborone were spotted along the borderline, fled the scene leaving behind their vehicle loaded with 15 bags containing a substance suspected to be dagga. However, the police impounded the vehicle and later arrested the suspects.
