Shooting Stars say they want to concentrate on their last league match

The promotion came with one game left in the lower division. They will be away to bottom side, Skoon Boys in Charles Hill tomorrow.

“We will first have to close the door for the sitting room before we can open the bedroom door. The league is still on so we will start our preparations once we finish our job here.

It would not have been easy to start preparing for the Premier League before we could wrap up our promotion because other teams were also chasing promotion.

We have to finish the job first,” club chairperson, Molefhi Molefe said yesterday.

Molefe also said a decision has not been made yet as to whether they will continue with Pio Paul next season. He said Paul has helped them a lot as a technical advisor together with Davis Kopi but said the two mentors will make a decision and inform them.

He said for now the focus is wrapping up the season tomorrow. Paul joined Sharps in the middle of the season and helped them realise their long cherished dream.

They have lost only one game this season. The club chairperson also denied rumours that former Township Rollers managing director, Somerset Gobuiwang is part of the executive committee.

“He does not have a position in the team. We asked for help just like we can ask for assistance from anyone with resources and he has been helpful. But we cannot say he has a position in the club,” Molefe said.

Meanwhile, the relegation battle and the fight for a spot in the promotional play-offs continue tomorrow as the league reaches the finishing line. Santos, currently occupy the second position, which is the play-off spot, which they are contesting for with Notwane and Black Peril.

Santos have accumulated 38 points while Notwane and Black Peril are on 36 points each at position three and four respectively. Santos will be at home to Prisons XI in the last game while Notwane will be away to Modipane United who are also trying to secure their stay in the First Division. Black Peril on the other hand will take on Letlapeng.

The team that finishes second will take on Motlakase Power Dynamos in the play-off. Rovers, Modipane United and Skoon Boys are fighting for their survival at the bottom.

They are all hoping that one side from the south wins the play-off so that only one team relegates from the First Division South.
