Zim suspects close ranks after killing fellow countryman

The pair are said to have adopted a veil of silence and refusing to lead police to where their alleged victim is.

Officer Commanding No. 10. District, Senior Superintendent Takongwa Mazwiduma said the incident happened a fortnight ago, but was not immediately reported to the police.

He stated the four suspects were seen beating up another Zimbabwean man and later carrying his body to an unknown place. Eyewitnesses did not immediately notify the police, but an unidentified source later tipped off the police.

Mazwiduma said it was reported that the victim was badly injured and was believed to have died.

“We have arrested two men in connection with the incident, but they have proven to be a hard nut to crack as they are refusing to tell us where took their victim’s body.”

One of the arrested two has been remanded in prison whilst investigations continue. Two suspects are still at large. The employer of the missing person and the eyewitnesses are helping the police with investigations. Mazwiduma said they suspected a case of murder.

It is not yet known what might have caused the fight, but a police search for the body of the victim and the manhunt for the two suspects continue.

They were still searching where the quartet might have disposed of the body of the victim at press time. The public is requested to notify the police of any indicators that could lead to either the arrest of the remaining two suspects, or the discovery of the victim’s body.
