Police suspect six people were involved in the robbery, which took place a fortnight ago soon after the Rollers/Mochudi Centre Chiefs match. Three suspects have already appeared in court. They are accused of robbing Rollers official, Minkie Molatlhegi of cash amounting to P200,000, a Samsung cellphone as well as tickets that remained unsold during the game between Rollers and Chiefs. Arabang applied for bail, stating that he has no connection to the robbery.

However prosecutor, sub inspector Peter Simisani pleaded with the court to remand the accused in custody since investigations are still ongoing. He said the investigating officer (IO) in the matter is on sick leave. He said the IO will be available at the next mention date to deal with the bail application.

“We cannot deal with the accused’s bail application today because the investigating officer is on sick leave, and will only be back tomorrow (Thursday). He will be available during the next mention date. We plead that the accused be remanded in custody,” said Simisani.

Magistrate Ncube agreed with the prosecution and remanded the accused in custody. She said the court could only deal with the accused’s bail application when the IO returns from leave. However, she noted that the bail hearing should be set for a nearer date since the IO resumes work today (Thursday).

The suspect will appear on Tuesday for his bail hearing. His plea has been reserved.
