Fed- up: Masuku wants to quit Nico

The Zimbabwean, who joined Majombolo after being released from Mochudi Centre Chiefs in January, had signed a brief six-month contract with the Selebi-Phikwe club. Masuku said the team is failing to pay him and they are not promising to do as per the agreement. He said he is the breadwinner at home and is failing to support his family. “It hurts when your wife tells you there is nothing to eat at home and you can’t provide yet you are working and you are not getting anything let alone those peanuts,” he said.

Masuku said since joining the club in January he was never paid, not even the first salary. He said what is best for him is to leave the Selebi-Phikwe outfit and look for greener pastures.  He said the situation is compounded by the fact that he is a foreigner and has no relatives to turn to when he runs out of food supplies and other necessities.

He did not mince his words when he spoke of quitting Nico. “I have no future here and after my contract I am leaving,” he said. When quizzed about where he is headed, he said: “I have offers around the country but I can’t say names.”

Masuku quashed rumours linking him with a return to Peace Makers in South Africa. He is currently in his native country, Zimbabwe.

Masuku last featured for Nico when they suffered 4-2 drubbing at the hands of Orapa United at the Itekeng Stadium.  Nico United’s spokesperson, Mogomotsi ‘Ace’ Orapeleng said Masuku has not communicated his position but admitted they have not been able to meet some contractual obligations. He however, said they have ensured that all their players understand the club’s position.

“From as far as we understand he left to attend to family matters and he has not communicated anything else to us apart from that.

We owe him like all our players, but they have all been addressed on how the situation will be sorted out. Our financial situation is an open secret, we have communicated that to everyone including our stakeholders,” explained Orapeleng.
