Galaxy came in the game sitting at the top of the league, level on points with Township Rollers but boosted a better goal difference.

It took only eight minutes for the visitors to ask questions as Gilbert Baruti got at the end of a counter move, tried to centre the ball but Godwin Bonsu cleared for a corner. On the 20th minute, Thatayaone Kgamanyane’s header was calmly saved by Ezekiel Morake.

Five minutes later, he pulled yet another superb save, once again denying Kgamanyane a goal from a free kick. GU looked the better side for most of the half, but failed to hit the net.

With three minutes to the break, Patrick Kaunda broke the offside trap and put one past on rushing Goitseone Phoko to give Galaxy the lead going into break. After the recess, Galaxy looked to score a caution while the Reds were sitting back and did not look threatening on the first minutes of the half.

On the hour mark, Kaunda failed to make it a double as he beat a defender inside the box but has his attempt saved by the keeper.

GU caught up with the rhythm of the game as they started throwing attacks at Galaxy.

After a good interplay, Kutlwelo Mpolokang tucked in from inside the box to level the scores on the 75th minute. Five minutes later, Morake denied Kabelo Seakanyeng from a volley just outside the box.

Three minutes later, Tebogo Sembowa centred for substitute, Terrence Mandaza but the latter could connect with pass as the passed the face of goal.

A minute later, Seakanyeng broke away with pace and laid for Kgamanyane but the latter had his shot saved by Morake.

The visitors missed two chances in the dying with Mandaza being the culprit. On the 90th minute, Gilbert Baruti crossed for Mandaza but his volley just missed the goal as it went over.

On the first of the referee’s two additional minutes, Mandaza squandered yet another chance as both sides took a point home.

“We struggled in the first half, but we came well in the second half.

We could have won the game but I think a draw is a fair result. The pressure was on them but we tried to play our game,” GU interim coach, Stephen Maposa said after the game.

His counterpart, Galaxy’s Zlakto Krmptic shunned the interviews as he rushed to the dressing room after the game.
