Even though he didn’t boast of a sold out show like previous Mascom Live Session headliners, Zakes Bantwini showed local fans that he takes his art seriously.

Bantwini will always be expected to live up to expectation since he renamed a local festival on that drizzling night seven years ago.

He started by performing his most recent songs like bang bang to show the crowd that has not been following him that he is still producing hits.

Even though the crowd wanted him to get it over with a performance of their favourite hits, Zakes Bantwini stalled as he performed Wasting My Time and Karolina.

When he finally performed the song that made him a household name in 2011, the crowd could not help it and some sections of the crowd formed a dancing circle.

Performing with a live band, Zakes Bantwini’s performance was full of energy.

But before Zakes got on stage, Jujuboy was the one who was keeping the crowd alight.

Even though Juju monster as he often calls himself was not a typical fan favourite, he still managed to stay relevant on stage.

He called a fan to the stage as he started performing his popular hit Hurt Me.

Jujuboy tied the fan on a chair as he performed.

The Masikeng songmaker wrapped up the performance by inviting his ‘girlfriend’, Amantle Brown for their collabo performance of Nigerian Afro Pop song, Follo.

The two teased each other during the performance.

It was the first edition of the Mascom Live Sessions this year.
