Appearing before Extension II Magistrate Lenthabile Willy, prosecution pleaded with court to further remand the duo pending bail application, as their substantive magistrate was absent.

Tlotlang Balathwa, representing the State, told the court that he heard that the duo had made their bail application but pleaded with the court to set another mention date in which they will move the application before their substantive magistrate.

Asked if they had anything to say, the two Zimbabweans responded in the negative and were further remanded until May 10.

The duo was arrested two weeks ago after allegedly robbing and raping two sisters in front of their mother at Masetlheng ward in Tlokweng village.

They were arrested in possession of eight laptops, five cell phones and cables whilst trying to escape to South Africa, where they are reported to be residing. The police have linked the duo and the other one by the name of Lloyd, who is still at large to eight similar cases that were also committed in Tlokweng village in the past.

The suspects’ reign of terror started mid last year and with their modus operandi being to rape women, stealing victims’ valuables like cell phones, laptops, taking their ATM cards to withdraw cash. Apparently, the trio allegedly attacked another family, still in Masetlheng ward in February at around 10pm and robbed them of money amounting to P12,000, in the process raping two women.

Then, the police reported that they allegedly invaded the victims’ house whilst the family was still watching television, tied up the husband and made him watch as they raped his wife and his cousin.

They allegedly took the victim’s ATM card to withdraw money, something that they are reported to have also done in the recent case.

Thabelo Nfakazi, believed to be the most dangerous, and revealed by the CCTV cameras of ATMs as the person who had been withdrawing the victims’ money, will soon appear before court for a rape case that occurred back in 2016 still at Tlokweng village. In that case it is alleged that he raped two sisters at knifepoint.
