He said this during the launch of the Union‘s new insurance cover called Hello Motor held at Majestic Five Hotel in Palapye over the weekend.

He said whoever does not want to be with BOPEU should leave instead of being a two-timer and allowing Botswana Federation of Public, Private and Parastatal Sector Unions (BOFEPUSU) to use them as a weapon in weakening BOPEU.

He said: “We still remain the Union of choice and we will never stop fighting for our members’ rights so that they are given what is due to them and treated fairly by the Government”.

He said this could only happen when they work as a team.

”Therefore, it is our request without attacking anyone that whoever feels does not want to be part of this team (BOPEU), should leave instead of two-timing us with other Unions.”

He said members should trust the Union leadership and give them support more especially in these trying times where they are at war with their once sister Union, BOFEPUSU.

BOPEU president, Masego Mogwera shared Marenga's sentiments, saying the Union leadership needs its members’ support more than ever as they are faced with a mammoth task of appealing a judgement interdicting the three percent salary rise for civil servants for the 2016/2017 financial year. She challenged them to take up issues with them saying some of the decisions they take will not make all happy.

She however, said they make decisions in the best interest of the members and they will continue fighting with all they have for thethree percent. She said they still remain the Union of choice as exemplified by the new insurance cover Hello Motor, which covers the members’ cars, should they be involved in accidents.

The Union leaders cautioned members against attacking the leadership via social media saying they know the Union‘s rules and should stop being frustrated by what they read in media reports.

They said members who have complaints should follow the right structures and desist from running to Facebook to tell the whole world about their Union issues.

“When we start insulting our leadership for the whole world to see, it is something else. It’s just anarchy and at the end of the day there's no way we can solve your problems that you have addressed in the wrong forum,” Marenga said.
