He has been nominated for the South African Music Awards (SAMA) for the first time under the Best African Artist category.

In a brief interview with Showbiz the Letlhale hitmaker said he was happy because he is finally up there with the top African artists.

“It’s a big honour and I am glad to be recognised for my contribution,” he said.

The artist, who beat Nigerian artists like Tekno of Pana at the last Metro FM awards, will now have a mountain to climb pegged against the legendary Oliver Mtukudzi, Jah Prayzah and Vuyo Katsha, who got nominations in the same category. He will face off once again with Nigerian reggae-dancehall singer and songwriter, Patoranking after beating him in the last awards.

However, Vee believes that the SAMAs will be a tricky scene because it does not rely on public voting but rather on the committee.

He further told Showbiz that he is not afraid of any competition because he has managed to beat Nigerians before despite the latter having the most population compared to Botswana.

Vee who launched his I Do album last December will see his fate decided at the 23rd SAMAs, which will take place at the Sun City Superbowl on May 27, 2017.
