Real name Mpho Vincent Tiro, Steez died tragically in a car accident on Saturday evening. Family, friends and fans will get a chance to pay tribute to the man who left a mark in the entertainment industry.

BOMU secretary general, Pagson Ntsie told Showbiz that they have invited musicians for a meeting today (Tuesday) to formally announce the death of Steez as well as the memorial service preparations.

“We also want to discuss how we can help out at the funeral, the public is also invited,” he said.

He said they would like everyone to contribute and pay farewell to Steez. He said all musicians are invited regardless of their association with BOMU. “During this time we should stand up for one of our own and work together,” he said.

He described Steez as a humble person who had a good relationship with BOMU and fellow colleagues in the music industry. Ntsie said Steez was a person who listened to people’s advice.

He said Steez wanted to take part in last year’s BOMU awards but as BOMU they advised him not to, but rather prepare for the upcoming ones in 2017. Ntsie said Steez had ideas of how to develop the industry.

“He came to us with the Pula Power idea before it was implemented, we were even there during the launch because we believed in him,” he said.

He added that Steez wanted a pool of artists who could benefit from Pula Power, a TV show that he presented from 2013 to 2015. He said he wished the Government could continue helping when situations like this arise.

Ntsie said BOMU would continue to stand with artists the way the did with Charma Gal’s dancers, Andries Bok, Johnny Kobedi and Don B among others.

Meanwhile, station commander of Rakops Police Station Mokgome Oageng said they could not publicly confirm whether the fatality is indeed Steez because the person was burnt beyond recognition.

He said the accident happened as a result of a head on collision between a Toyota RunX allegedly driven by Steez and a Nissan Hardbody driven by a white tourist.

Oageng said the RunX was coming from the west heading to the east. “The RunX was in a wrong lane and it looks like the cars collided when the driver was finally getting back to his rightful lane,” he said.

Oageng said the accident happened at around 5pm in the evening.
