TAFIC Defeat Sankoyo In Relegation Battle

The must-win contest came before a paltry crowd and was vital with the team sitting precariously just above Sankoyo in the relegation zone.

Two goals apiece in the first and second half from Rebaone Modisaotsile and Onkemetse Powe respectively were enough to seal the win for the Francistown’s only Premier League side. To be fair to Ngurungu as Sankoyo is also called by its hordes of fans, they missed a number of goal scoring opportunities from the opening whistle until the end of the game. Their strikers forgot their goal scoring boots only managing to balloon countless opportunities over the bar.

They were also thwarted by TAFIC goalkeeper and man of the match, Lesego Bosekeng who made crucial saves to deny Sankoyo in both stanzas.

Sankoyo coach, Philani Mabena whose team was having a lot of ball possession but failed to convert easy chances said he cannot talk about the game but is looking forward to the last two fixtures to save the team from relegation. Mabena bemoaned that his side creates clear-cut goal scoring opportunities but fail to convert them. He said TAFIC only came to the game after the 75th minute after they scored the second game.

Mabena added that they will have to do everything in their power to avoid relegation in the two remaining games.

His counterpart, Rapelang Tsatsilebe praised his charges for the all-important win which sees them leapfrogging Sankoyo in the battle to survive relegation.

He said the game was fantastic and was optimistic that they will survive the chop. Tsatsilebe added that they just have to keep a positive mind to sustain their stay in the premier league.
