Makhwengwe’s charges are favourites to win promotion to the BTC Premiership after two vital away goals in a 2-1 win over Sua Flamingoes in the promotional play-offs first leg clash over the weekend.

”I am happy with the outcome but the fight is not yet over. We have to keep the focus. Football is unpredictable. I missed several first team players including my first choice keeper. They will be available in the next match, which will significantly boost our chances of winning promotion.”

The second leg of the promotional play-offs will be played in Gaborone over weekend.

The former Gaborone United coach credited his players for sticking to the game plan.

”Our plan was to sit back and keep the ball. We wanted to catch them on the break. We did well in the aforementioned aspects. We had wanted to score three goals but managed only two which is not bad considering that we were playing away,” he said.

Makhwengwe bemoaned that the delay in starting the match affected his players negatively. The match was delayed by nearly 15 minutes owing to the absence of an ambulance.

On the other hand Flamingoes coach, Dominic Changwe has promised that his charges will fight with all they have in the second leg.

”We had an upper hand but conceded because of our tactical indiscipline. It is not yet over. We are a scoring team and I am confident that we will come out on top in the second round. I have confidence in my players. It will be a different ball game in Gaborone,” he said.

Changwe also said the delay in kick-off affected his players.

”After warming up the match did not start as anticipated. I guess this affected our momentum, which is why we started very slowly,” he explained.
