Ticket scam: Rollers lost money from the gates to robbers, while counterfeit tickets were sold at the match against Chiefs

The alleged robbers drove away with an undisclosed amount of cash after tailing Rollers’ treasurer and another team supporter to the club’s offices at CA Sales located at the Gaborone International Commerce Park.

The robbers attacked the duo and got away with the day’s gate takings believed to be in the region of P90,000.

Speaking to Mmegi Sport yesterday, Old Naledi Police Station commander, Superintendent King Tshebo said they are yet to arrest the suspects in the case. “We are still investigating and we have not arrested anyone so far,” he said.

The vehicle was found dumped in Gaborone’s Phase Four the following day.

According to the club spokesperson, Bafana Pheto, the robbers broke the window on the driver’s side before forcing the two occupants out.

The incident happened as they were waiting for the security to open the gate at CA Sales.  Pheto said upon recovery of the car the following day, they found all the cash and the tickets missing.

He said all other items including the victims’ phones were found inside the car.

Meanwhile, Central Police Station commander, Superintendent Vincent Pitseetsile has said no case has been registered regarding the ticket scandal that rocked the same match. There were reports that some people were caught selling counterfeit tickets before and during the match between the two giants on Saturday night.

They were reportedly handed over to the authorities who upon questioning said they got them from ‘someone’ at the Premier League.

However, Pitseetsile said no such case has been reported at his station. “Maybe they are still to report it, but at the moment there is nothing in our registry,” he said.
