BMDYL gears up for elective congress

The BMD president Ndaba Gaolathe, who will give a keynote speech, is expected to address members on issues such as unity and updates regarding cooperation.

Already the youth have two teams that they are using for campaigns, one led by Kagelelo Kentse known as (teamfocus) while the other is led by Jacob Kelebeng known as (#ithabanele).

Even though the theme of the congress has not yet been finalised, the congress will be held in Ramotswa from April 28 to 30.

However, Kelebeng said if his team is given a chance to lead, it would focus on recruitment and retention to strengthen the BMD in all fronts and make it a very strong partner in Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) towards 2019.

“The first step is the formation of intrinsic link with all the functional party structures in all 57 constituencies.

The youth league would be entrenched in all 57 constituencies advocating, mediating and creating an enabling environment for the visibility of the BMD brand.

There is need for improvement and reform of all internal BMDYL communication with the leadership of the party, constituencies, and the general public for compatibility with the vision and values of the BMD,” Kelebeng said.

He said the other aspect is funding of the youth league to enable it to carry out its mandate.

Kelebeng said the youth league would break away from the unsustainable form of funding that relied on donation and tap into the resourcefulness of the young people in the party.

On issues of empowerment and development, Kelebeng said such programme would enable easy skill transfer within the party and ensure a coordinated, effective transition plan for the party livelihood.
