Angara senses the side had enough arsenal to progress to Division 5, but the batting department failed to come to the party.

Ghana, who finished unbeaten in all the five assignments, cruised through as Botswana finished second, and therefore missed out on promotion. “It is unfortunate we didn’t qualify. Finishing second was not enough,” Angara said.

“We did no bat well and we lost it against Ghana. We managed only 154 and Ghana chased down, it was not to be,” the coach added.

He said Botswana had beaten Ghana before but faltered when it mattered most.

“They were well prepared after winning their first two games and their confidence was up.” He said focus will now turn to the Under-19 World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana finished with maximum points while Botswana were second with seven. The blue, black and white boys’ last match against Nigeria was abandoned due to rain.

Tanzania were third while Nigeria were fourth. Another southern African country, Zambia came fifth with just two points. Winless and point-less Sierra Leone anchored the standings.
