Low turnout at Charma Gals half a million pre-launch

It was held on Good Friday and most people had gone home for the holidays while others were celebrating the death of Jesus Christ at different churches countrywide.

The event manager and financer Resego Matenge popularly known as Leshman of Leshman Holdings and also Charma Gal’s partner had announced prior to the event that the pre-launch will cost P550,000. Observing from the stage he put on the night and the sound, it was worth noting that the man went all out to make the event luxurious despite the poor turnout.

However, those who were there got their money’s worth because the launch boasted of the best line-up among others Franco who was perhaps the best act of the night. With more than a decade in the music industry, the veteran kwasa kwasa singer made a night for some of the revellers who were out to see the Gabane singer.

Having released a hit after hit in the previous 14 albums, it was a good opportunity for the singer to sample tracks from his new album entitled Eya le nna Babilone. However he started off with his song Sephiri se dule and his fans started to sing along with him. Being one of the local rhumba artists who heightened live performing with his energy, the crowd was excited to see that Franco still has it.

It was a night of fast and danceable music and there was no time for revellers to relax on their camp chairs. Franco did not steal that much limelight from the main artist herself, Charma Gal. With a new crop of dancers and backup singers, Charma Gal wanted to finally deliver what she had been cooking after her long absence on stage since the tragic accident that killed her dancers.

She started off with the song which has been making rounds all over and was a pirated by fans in social media. The song entitled Guy e nngwe yaana but popularly known to people as Mmokolodi got people excited now that it was being performed live. Charma Gal was more focused on the new album and she performed other songs form the new album like Mokwepa o mo ntlong among others. She also did a brief performance of popular songs like Sekuta and Mosepele wa lorato from her previous album.

Other performers on the night included Team Distant, Han C, Tyte, Makwakwa and Figos just to mention but a few. Since the event was only a pre-launch, the launch will perhaps attract a bigger crowd depending on the venue and timing. While the low turnout was automatically a loss on their side, the pre-launch was a perfect strategy to get people interested and curious about the new album and be eager to be one of the first to buy it.
