AP To Give Focus On Child Protection, Rights

The two organs are engaging various political parties to include the child protection plan to be included in their 2019 election campaign manifestos.
On Friday, the duo presented a request letter to Nasha at her party’s head office, who said that the request could not have come at the right time, as AP is engaged in formulating a policy document to guide their 2019 election campaign manifesto.
“I must say you came at the right time because as a party we are in the process of putting together a policy document. In fact, we would appreciate it very much if you could also write, give us an idea of what it is you think you want because once we have finished with our policy document, then we will draw our manifesto from it.
We already have a manifesto team, but we want them to draw from the policy document,” Nasha said.
Nasha commended the duo for the opportunity saying it is a good start because she has never seen a manifesto with a chapter on the child, or right and protection of the child since she became a politician.
She assured that AP would have a chapter on child protection on its 2019 election campaign manifesto.
Representing SSI, Chirwa Matlhoko said that they request to work with all parties when they draw their manifestos to make sure that they carry chapters on children’s issues.
Matlhoko said that they have realised that children, especially those with special needs are left behind and different parties do not cover their issues.
“We request to work with the AP in developing the party law and policy document, the manifestos for your policies to make sure that they are inclusive of children’s rights issues,” Matlhoko said.
SSI is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to creating an enabling environment for orphaned and vulnerable youth to grow and build their futures whilst the #iShallNotForget! movement was formed by members of the society to inform, educate and be a mouthpiece for the voiceless and underprivileged.
