Keep safe during Easter Holidays

As majority of Batswana are Christians, they will join their fellow Christians around the world to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

As it is a norm, every year around this time people travel to different destinations.

Some go to churches in and outside the country while others visit their families in the four corners of Botswana. This calls for vigilance both at home and on the roads as traffic rises at this time of the year.

Like we always say, we encourage fellow citizens to exercise caution on the roads. The message from the Police is always the same: Exercise caution especially during the holidays.

The message is loud and clear that fellow Batswana let us guard ourselves from falling victims to criminals. This is the time of the year when criminal activities are on the rise.

Remember criminals take advantage to help themselves to other people’s properties. We always say this and we are repeating it again: “We should take the fight back to these criminals and deny them the chance to steal from us.

The spirit of neighbourhood watches in every community should be revived. The idea is to have zero tolerance toward crime. We must nip it in the bud”. Since the majority of the people are travelling road carnages are on the rise and they should be avoided at all costs.

During Easter just like other holidays, so many precious lives are lost in our roads. That can  changed if we obey traffic signs and respect each other on the roads.

Police advise that vehicle road-worthiness is very crucial. They also discourage drinking and driving. This can be avoided if we are all disciplined.

We are pleased that the police road blocks would be all over the major roads to protect lives and take action against law breakers.

The police must take stern actions against the culprits. Remember that drinking and driving contribute a lot to road carnages in this country. We have had enough of some of the deaths caused by irresponsible drunken drivers.

Let us all take care of our precious lives. Those who will be celebrating Easter at their respective churches should make sure that their valuables back home are safe.

They should not give criminals a chance. They should also pray for the prosperity of this country and the world at large.

Today’s thought

“Outside of the cross of Jesus Christ, there is no hope in this world. That cross and resurrection at the core of the Gospel is the only hope for humanity. Wherever you go, ask God for wisdom on how to get that Gospel in, even in the toughest situations of life.”
