BAA under fire for president's wife inclusion

Clubs argue Mooketsi’s wife, Elizabeth was not supposed to be on the shortlist of team managers, known as the 'long list'.

Also on the list is Thabo Giddie.

BAA public relations officer, Ipolokeng Ramatshaba told Mmegi Sport that a long list is a procedure required by the Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC).

“It is up to the BNOC to decide who they pick because only one individual is needed as a manager. At the moment the team does not have a manager,” he said.

Ramatshaba said there is no need for people to press panic buttons. He said clubs should not worry about anything yet. Ramatshaba said the association has been advised to submit the long list on time in order to give BNOC sufficient period to make the final selection.

Ramatshaba said the same procedure was followed for the appointment of the Commonwealth Games manager.

“I am not defending anybody here. All clubs should learn how things work,” he said.

The long list includes: Kago Tladinyane (coach). Athletes: Bernard Olesitse (400m), Phenyo Majama (800m), Kemo Gomang (200m), Calvin Bathusi (100m), Widzani Mojangi (high jump), Vincent Phokoje (long jump), Onalethata Kgangyarona (3000m), Bokamoso Mokgethi (triple

Jump), Oarabile Tshosa (100m and 200m), Bafeditse Gasebatho (400m), Theresa Galesieope (800m), Lame Nare (3000m), Tebogo Tlhokamatlho (1500m) and Amantle Never (long jump).
