Orebonye turns down P500,000 Kenya deal

Although Orebonye’s representative, Olebile Sikwane refused to reveal the financial details of the deal, he confirmed that there was interest in the player.
“Yes, we had an offer for Teenage. All our players are for sale, at a good price of course. Unfortunately, he did not see his personal terms attractive enough,” Sikwane said.
The deal was worth $25,000 per season (approx. P250, 000) as AFC Leopards, coached by former GU coach, Rudolfo Zapata, look to raid the Reds camp.
GU are battling financial challenges, which led to Zapata’s departure.
Now Zapata is keen to lure some of his former players to East Africa, with dazzling midfielder, Dirang Moloi emerging as the prime target alongside Ghanaian, Godwin Bonsu.
Orebonye is believed to be interesting local giants, Township Rollers, while there were reports of enquiries from South Africa’s Maritzburg United, which have since subsided.
Meanwhile, GU were fined P5, 000 after a charge of misconduct arising from their aborted game against Police XI on Sunday. Battling to pay players, GU travelled with only eight players and was soon down to six when two went out injured, leading to the premature end to the match.
The P5, 000 is to be paid within 14 days and the game re-scheduled before Monday.
It has emerged that the club has agreed to settle with the players at the end of the season, after protracted fights to terminate contracts reached the Dispute Resolution Chamber this week.
Zebras coach, David Bright is said to have been instrumental in bringing sanity to the Reds camp, after pleading with players to stay put.
