Hefty budget for Motlha's one-man show

These are the words Suffocate, Motlha’s manager and producer uttered at a press conference held at the Stanbic Bank Piazza in Molapo Shopping Complex on Tuesday for the singer’s upcoming one-man show.
Suffocate and his team wants to set the bar high when they launch the country’s most trending artist, and one could sense it from his speech on Tuesday evening.
Songwriter, Motlha Mompe’s first album, the African Native, is scheduled to launch on May 26, 2018 at Stanbic Bank Piazza and is expected to be nothing short of exceptional, as his team wants to make a statement about the direction Motlha is headed.
According to Suffocate, they are going all out with a hefty budget to put together a show befitting Motlha’s stature. He stated that they would also use the event to promote the artist’s identity to the international market. He said the budget for the show is a little over P500, 000.
“We want the show to be worth every thebe people are going to spend. It will be an event not to miss. The budget is crazy. He’s got people from as far as Universal and Sony running and trying to get him. He is the first local artist to perform at Supersport’s Thursday Night With Marawa,” he said.
Suffocate said Motlha deserves all the credit for what he has achieved in the few months that he has been in the industry by penetrating the Botswana and South African markets. He said that he is humbled to be the talented songwriter’s producer. Regarding the album, Suffocate said it has 12 tracks and features four international artists and locals make up the balance. He said they want the album to hit gold.The managers of Molapo’s Stanbic Bank Piazza, the venue partners of Motlha’s one-man show, are excited to be hosting the event, as the place will be buzzing.
“We believe we are a stakeholder not just a venue. We have to promote local talent. We wanted to see this guy live in the Piazza and we are not doing this for charity, but we are doing it because we believe this is the biggest star. We want to be part of this and support Motlha to take his brand to the next level,” Kgosi Goodwill, events and brand manager at Stanbic Bank Piazza said.
After performing and sampling a few songs from his album, Motlha was lost for words. The 24-year-old star could only thank his producer and those who have made him who he is. “I don’t know what to say. I want to support all of you. I am humbled. As a young man, I believe I have a bright future ahead of me. I have told myself that I have to be different,” he said.
