The charitable walk is geared toward assisting a disabled Motsumi JSS student acquire electric wheelchair, as well as raising funds to build ramps in the school to make it accommodative to students on wheelchairs.

BOSETU publicity secretary, Edwin Maitshoko said the acquisition of the electric wheelchair would enable the affected student to drive himself around, instead of relying on fellow students for assistance.

Maitshoko further said ideally every school should be having ramps to enable any wheelchair student to move around with ease, adding that the attainment of that goal would enable the school to be a conducive environment for students with disabilities.

The Saturday 15km sponsored walk will start at 07:00 hours from Motsumi JSS main gate to village centre and back, led by Radikolo as the chief walker, with the assistance of BancABC and their representatives, as well as local councillors and the area MP, according to Maitshoko.

Explaining the origin of the initiative, Maitshoko told Mmegi that the Motsumi JSS staff, motivated by the bid to create child friendly schools met to find ways to raise funds for the initiative. Amongst them was the BOSETU-Boteti regional Chairperson - Itumeleng Ditsala, who promised to approach the national leadership of his Organisation for assistance, a request to which the leadership acceded.
