Donors Ease Life Of Disabled Motsumi JSS Student

The staff of Motsumi embarked on a project of sourcing donations to change the school life of the Form 1 student.
On Saturday morning, they held a 10 kilometre sponsored walk in the village, with Bank ABC president, Kabo Bannabothe as the chief walker.
After the walk Gobotswang received a donation of P21, 000 from Bank ABC to cover costs of securing an electric wheelchair.
His school received a further P25,000 from Botswana Sector of trade Unions (BOSETU) to construct ramps around the school and prepare a restroom to suit students living with disabilities.
Bannabotlhe said nothing is fulfilling more than changing a less privileged life.
“Nothing in life beats touching a life that has been harder and less fortunate than others and making it a little lot easier,” he said.
BOSETU president, Wiston Radikolo said when they heard the call from the school they were touched and compelled to dig deeper and help ease a life.
He said one of their mandates is corporate social responsibility through which they create enabling environments for the societal comfort amongst others.
“We believe through this gesture we will improve a life of a young Motswana and this project will go a long way in helping other students in future,” Radikolo said.
Gobotswang relied on the goodwill of his colleague, Kewaone Morena to move around the school.
Although from different walks of life, Morena, has been Gobotswang’s Godsent guardian Angel from day one of secondary school.
The benevolent young Morena was heaped with praise by his teachers and rewarded with a certificate for being such a caring soul and a compassionate citizen.
His care for his friend pushed the staff at the school to intervene and start a project that would source funds and easy the duo’s life at school.
On behalf of the school the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) representative Malebogo Sebonego appreciated the kind gestures.
“A life has been changed and we are thankful to everyone who has taken part in this project for the priceless and invaluable support.”
