Today, Zimbabwean-born Ganje has turned around his story as he was earlier this month listed as one of the top 30 most promising entrepreneurs in Africa by Forbes.

When narrating his journey, Ganje said that by then he was only a 17-year-old who was determined to make something out of his life even though he had no money or business.

“I remember when I first came here, I had nowhere to sleep, we were sleeping in a tuckshop without electricity or water, but that did not stop us from pursuing our dream as we started approaching companies to pitch our dream,” he said.

According to Ganje, they started by approaching different companies offering to assist to market and promote their businesses, and although most of them declined, that did not stop them from following their dreams until finally Shoprite gave them a deal.

He said that this gave them motivation, and managed to deliver what they promised the client, even though they did not have a registered company.

“Shoprite wanted to advertise their products on television and radio. So we approached both BTV and some radios and made a deal with them and fortunately we managed. Unfortunately, we did not have an email and when the client wanted it, we told them that we had a problem with the Internet and instead used a memory stick.”

Further, he said that they had to go and open an account for the first payment to be processed after which they then followed the right procedures of registering the company.

Currently, H&G Advertising operates in 13 African countries with the biggest brands like Coca Cola, Unilever, Colgate, Emirates just to mention a few, as their clients.

“Getting and maintaining clients used to be a nightmare and we did not have connections in the country. However we had to put them aside and focused on our determination. Now I am proud to say that we know how to fight better,” he said.
