Mafolofolo give up on title before season starts

The season returns after a one-year hiatus, with Mascom pumping P1million as sponsorship to breath life into what was a comatose league.
Mafolofolo’s women team has suffered a crucial blow, losing key players during a busy transfer window in which 43 players switched clubs.
Coach, Kabo Ntshinogang admitted that they are not even dreaming about defending the title. The team lost Tsholofelo Rebatshabile, Gabaresepe Mashaole and Gaoleseletse Gasekgonwe. The trio have joined Mahalapye-based MagStimela. Retshabile and Gasekgonwe’s moves are still to be finalised.
“I am now rebuilding and I have recruited young players. It is going to take them close to two years to be competitive. I have avoided getting experienced players from other clubs. My target is 2020, that is when I can say my team would be ready to challenge for honours,” he said.
Ntshinogang said he expects challenges with the availability of players during the course of the season due to school commitments. The league would see two teams make their debut, Police VI women’s club and Yaros Olympic from Maun. Yaros coach, Mmoloki Gaobone told Mmegi Sport that they are halfway in their preparations. Yaros’ first league test would be against Phikwe and MagStimela next weekend.
“Our players are all over the country. Some are at tertiary and they are busy with examinations while some are waiting for tertiary admissions. You find that it is difficult to bring them together for training,” he said.
Kebame Gawahiwa has left Yaros to join Dynamites but the team has signed Olebile Mabechu from their youth team. Gaobone said his players are excited about making their debut as they have been waiting for their chance for a long time. Lee Tshipana of Police VI said they could only be ready as far as talent allows.
Tshipana, who is a former coach at BDF VI, left a void at his army side after moving with six players; Patricia Moribame, Cynthia Nfana, Lindy Tshipana, Ashley Harejesu, Lorato Chizake and Lebani Ntalecha.
Police have also acquired the services of Precious Mangogola from Phikwe. However, her move was still pending at the time of going to press. Goitseone Ishmael from Kalavango has also signed on the dotted line for ‘The Cops’. As if that was not enough, Police visited Spiking Stars camp to snatch Mpho Mokakapadi. When asked if former Mafolofolo attacker, Chada Majaha who has been plying her trade in South Africa is on her way to Police, Tshipana played down the reports.
