Friends reach out during Malepa's darkest hour

All gate takings from the weekend matches will be donated to the former Ecco City Greens marksman. Probably one of the most gifted footballers to have ever played for a Francistown side, Bolelang had his leg amputated early this year after he was involved in a freak car accident.
The accident happened while Bolelang was out enjoying drinks with friends on his birthday. This week, Kago Dlodlo, one of the tournament organisers, said former national team players such as Diphetogo Selolwane and Talinda Nyathi have confirmed their participation.
“We would have wished to host a music festival later on the day to raise more funds for him but the idea was aborted because on the same day there will be the Toropo Ya Muka Music festival,” Dlodlo said.
Dlodlo, a former TAFIC striker said Malepa is one of the people who have helped take the city of Francistown to greater heights through his footballing exploits hence deserve the financial and emotional support from Batswana during his darkest times.
“We have done a lot of activations for the event and we are really optimistic that Batswana will come in large numbers to support the event. Even towards the match we will hold the activations,” he said.
The 36-year-old Malepa earned 20 Zebras caps. He is best remembered for guiding Ecco City Greens to their first ever league Premier League title in the 2006/7 season. He was top goal scorer in the 2005/6 season with 25goals.
Teams that will feature at the tournament are Zebras legends, Northern legends, Ecco legends, Media Fraternity, Sunday Selection 1 and Sunday Selection 2.
