Morupisi Eyes PTA ChairUpon Retirement

He was speaking at his adopted school, Malaka Primary’s prize giving ceremony in Palapye last Friday.
In response to the incumbent, Morupisi said that upon leaving the civil service he would like to challenge his adoptive school’s long-standing PTA chairperson who has been unopposed since 1994.
Looking into the prospects of retiring to his home village where he was presiding over the colourful annual prize giving ceremony, Morupisi aired his concerns over the quality of education.
He briefly paid tribute to President Mokgweetsi Masisi who he said is passionate and equally concerned about delivery of quality education in the country.
Morupisi said that the President wants to see Batswana seeing prosperity even beyond their borders, as the world is an oasis of opportunities to be exploited.
He told the gathering that contrary to widespread reports that he and the President do not see eye to eye, they in fact cordially work together.
Morupusi, as the patron, was making a return to Malaka ensuring that as of 2013 the primary school never scored less than 90% for its Standard 7 results.
This year the school celebrated attaining a 92% pass rate, with four As, and 13 Bs.
The patron paraded an array of corporate sponsors for the day, where microlender, Bayport, donated P10,000 cash towards the school and Nandos spoilt the pupils with tasty chicken and jumping castles.
Makoro Bricks was also unveiled by the patron as a partner to donate bricks for erection of a house for the needy in the village, as well as donating a 10,000-litre water tank for use by the school.
Majoka Hardware in Palapye donated boxes of chocolate for the best performing students, while Morupisi also continued his annual gesture of donating blankets to the new Standard 1 pupils, who number 69 this year.
The highflying pupils, who are doing Form 1 this year, received a total of P4,000, in cash, with As getting P300 each, and Bs getting P200 each.
Certificates of appreciation were also handed out to more than 15 school volunteers dedicated to the outstanding performance of the rural school.
Through the patron’s efforts, Malaka Primary School has been connected with free wifi courtesy of Mascom, while teachers own tablets thanks to the partnership with mobile phone technology company, Huawei.
There was also something for the sports side of things when the patron donated two footballs for the school team.
