This will be an exciting opportunity for journalists as the last time a sitting President addressed a press conference was more than a decade ago.

His predecessor, former president Ian Khama made public his disdain for the local media, describing it as the worst.  Khama was hardly accessible to the local press. Masisi has since assuming office at least shown his appreciation of the media.

He has already hosted a press conference wearing his Botswana Democratic Party hat. Now he will be addressing one as President.

Masisi has impressed a lot of people with some of the decisions he took since assuming office. Amongst those immediate actions making him the man of the moment is removing former director general of Directorate of Intelligence and Security, Isaac Kgosi from office.

Kgosi always made headlines for the wrong reasons and people believed the organ was rogue.  Masisi also removed legislator Sadique Kebonang from Cabinet following the National Petroleum Fund scandal.

The former Moshupa-Manyana legislator also applied those swift moves in the entertainment trade, making industry players happy after he promised to review liquor-trading hours.
