More than 200 poverty project jobs stall

The council sub district chairperson, Mmaobene Molefe told the ongoing council meeting that the sub district has a total number of 977 funded projects under the programme.

“A total number of 637 beneficiaries are awaiting funding and 105 beneficiaries are partially packaged, but procurement and packaging is ongoing.  A total number of 84 projects are excelling while 90 have failed.

Funds to the tune of P1,000,000 have been released to implement the poverty eradication programme in this new financial year and already P405,000 has been spent on packaging of beneficiaries so far.

The funds include salaries for nine temporary poverty eradication officers,” Molefe said.

On other issues, the sub district chairperson said Water Utilities Cooperation (WUC) is currently faced with a huge backlog of over 300 paid up connections in the sub district mostly emanating from more than three months.

She said that resulted in low numbers of completed water connections and a growing backlog of paid up connections from customers.
