With only nine games to be played, eyes will be on the title race, particularly between defending champions, Township Rollers and new Mascom Top 8 champions, Jwaneng Galaxy.

Only two points separate the two sides, with Rollers sitting at the peak of the league table with 45 points. The team is unbeaten under coach, Mogomotsi ‘Teenage’ Mpote.

Rollers will not have an easier run to the league title as Mochudi Centre Chiefs and BDF XI look tougher opponents while Galaxy would have to play BDF XI, Orapa United and Gaborone United (GU).

Both teams however face tricky assignments as they will play this season’s surprise packages, Security Systems and Black Forest.

Orapa United look the dark horse in the race. Despite being nine points behind the log leaders, United are much capable of pulling a surprise, but they will hope banana slips awaits Galaxy and Rollers.

On the other end of the log, there is the battle to avoid relegation. The survival chances look bleak for Mahalapye United Hotspurs and Green Lovers already looking at their current form run. Both teams have recorded a single league win in the past five games.

With three teams dropping, Gilport Lions, Miscellaneous, Sankoyo Bush Bucks and Nico United will look to avoid accompanying the two sides to First Division League.

Interestingly, of all the teams looking to survive the chop only one, Lions, are from the south side of the country.

For the individual accolades, Terrence Mandaza leads the race for the green boot with 12 goals.

In second is Galaxy’s Thabang Sesenyi with 10 goals while Keegaile Kobe of BDF XI, Thero Setsile and former Zebras marksman Jerome Ramatlhakwana are sitting on eight goals each.
