Zebras have to win their match this afternoon in order to advance to the quarterfinals

They kicked off the tournament with a 2-1 victory over Angola with goals from Kabelo Seakanyeng and Onkabetse Makgantai. Seakanyeng was on target again in the second game against Malawi on Wednesday evening. He scored an equaliser in the dying minutes of the game to earn the Zebras a vital point after Malawi had taken the lead for the better part of the match.

This afternoon, Zebras will take on Mauritius in what is a must-win game. Reports from South Africa have indicated that the Zebras have no injuries to worry about. Yesterday they had a morning rest before they resumed training in the afternoon. A victory for the Zebras will see them through to the quarterfinals where they are going to take on defending champions, Zimbabwe.

However, they face a difficult test with both Mauritius and Angola breathing heavily on their necks with three points each. Angola despite losing to the Zebras in the first match, recovered and beat Mauritius in the second game on Wednesday.  Mauritius was already on three points at the time after defeating Malawi in the first game. Malawi is out of contention in the group having failed to register a single victory in the first two games. They are currently sitting at the bottom with one point.

The Zebras will this afternoon once again rely on the experience of Seakanyeng going forward as they need goals to advance. Tumisang Orebonye, who is yet to get a goal at the tournament, is expected to step up while Thatayaone Kgamanyane and Eric Molefi, have proven in the last two games their attacking prowess when they came off the bench.  The match kicks off at 5.30pm.
