Unsecure parking nearly spoilt Toropo Ya Muka

The weekend festival was held at Botho College. A sizeable number of people were forced to go back as they could not access the venue of the show owing to shortage of parking space. There was also heavy traffic leading to the venue.
Some people who desperately wanted to attend, parked their cars very far from the venue in areas considered unsafe.
“The parking space was smaller than we had anticipated. I think that is the reason why we did not attract a similar crowd like last year because of lack of parking space.”
“A lot of people left because of the challenges faced with reference to parking. We will do a full review of the event and see how we can improve it,” the organiser of the show, Bonno Ngaka who is popularly known as DJ Colastraw in the entertainment arena, said.
Around 3,000 people attended this year’s event as compared to the more than 4,000 last year. Despite not attracting the anticipated crowd Colastraw said that the show went very well. Prior to the show, Colastraw said that they were readying to host 10,000 spectators which is the capacity of the venue at Botho.
“Businesswise we did not do well as compared to last year, but I am happy that the show was well organised in all key areas. The security was of top notch and we did not record any major incident (criminal and or vandalism of any property) at the event.”
“This year those who directed the show managed the stage very well. Immediately after the show we received positive feedback from the police and some of the stakeholders we worked with,” DJ Colastraw said. Colastraw added that this year the focus of the festival was more on trying to restore the dignity of the festival following instances of security lapses at last year’s event. Last year’s event also attracted controversy following an on stage confrontation between MC Maswe and radio personality Leungo Pitse who were tasked with directing the proceedings.
The festival solely features Botswana artists. Amantle Brown and DJ La Timmy headlined the event and the latter performed with aplomb. Brown also kept revellers hooked to her performance. Over 60 upcoming artists and DJs (combined) were scheduled to perform at the festival.
